E-mobility: high-voltage measurement solutions from imc

What does the future hold for electric vehicles? How can the electric drive train be optimized? Are more powerful batteries and energy storage solutions the key to the further development of electric mobility? Finally, the battery affects the vehicle's range and costs decisively. How can the weight of vehicle components be optimized? Answers to these questions can only be given by tests and measurements in the development of electrically operated vehicles. imc offers the ideal measurement solutions to carry this out.

Safely test in HV environments

Whether thermocouples, analog sensors or low-voltage signals - for measurements on batteries, fuel cells and supply circuits in the HV environment, a highly-isolated measurement system and corresponding safety measures are necessary. Also in the case of measurements on non-direct voltage-carrying components, such as charging plugs, power semi-conductors, etc., the full safety of the measurement equipment and personnel must be ensured in case of accidents. With highly-isolated measurement modules, imc ensures reliable measurement of HV components. The modules comply with the device safety standard EN 61010 and have an isolation of: 800 V CAT I, 300 V CAT II.

Power measurements on e-vehicles

With the HV measurement modules from imc, voltage up to 1000 V can be directly measured. In addition, there are inputs for current clamps, Rogowski coils and measurement shunts. A 1, 2 or 3-phase power calculation is performed online in the measurement system.

Electrical vs. mechanical power

The power transmitted in real driving conditions is an important parameter to quantify the efficiency of drive trains. The drive power is calculated from the torque and rpm of the shaft. For this purpose, imc offers an innovative and robust measurement solution: the system combines telemetry electronics, MEMS-based speed sensors and inductive power supply in an easily assembled shaft housing. The system calculates the performance online from torque and rpm and outputs it as an additional measured variable.

Module for precise current measurement from 50 nA to 50 A

The imc CANSAS-IHR measuring module allows the highly precise and interruption-free measurement of the current characteristics from 50 nA to 50 A. Responsible for the high range dynamics are two different measuring shunts, which are dynamically switched according to the strength of the current using an auto-ranging method.

Configure and measure

With imc STUDIO, you are ready to start your measurement in a few minutes. A clearly organized channel configuration list, extensive sorting and filtering functions, numerous assistants, built-in sensor management and support of TEDS are just some of the useful functions for achieving quick, intuitive system configuration.

Automating routine tasks

Save time by automating routine measurement processes using imc STUDIO. Use the drag & drop technique to create your own personal test sequence by selecting from a wide variety of functions – such as channel balancing, entering test object data, starting measurements, saving data, running analyses and printing out a report. That's it!

Open Interfaces

Using the imc STUDIO Third Party Device Interface plug-in, it is possible to integrate devices from other manufacturers (3rd-party devices) into imc STUDIO and run them in the imc STUDIO system.

Data display and system operation

With just a few mouse clicks, you can design tailor-made user interfaces with the imc STUDIO Panel, and link them to the system’s inputs and outputs. Choose from over 100 predefined instrument templates and elements (widgets) to create your own personal test and measurement interface.

Simplify test stand automation

Let control of the test environment be an integral part of your measurement application! When testing components, imc STUDIO not only measures the performance of the test object, but also allows you to integrate real-time automation and control for your test station - without programming one line of code. You simply define a state oriented test process and use drag & drop to insert ready-made functions for specifying target values, actuator profiles, control logic and even multi-variable closed-loop control systems.
