Highly isolated CAN modules for reliable measurement on electric vehicles

The imc CANSAS-HISO8 series allows the safe and precise measurement of temperatures and low voltages at high-voltage common-mode levels of up to 800 V or even higher as they occur on batteries, HV components and supply circuits of hybrid and electric vehicles. The modules comply with the device safety standard EN 61010 and have an isolation of: 800 V CAT I, 300 V CAT II, 300 V CAT III.

Typical applications:

  • Temperature measurement on high-voltage components in electric and hybrid vehicles, e.g., batteries, fuel cells and supply circuits
  • Environments in which full personal safety must be guaranteed even in the event of a fault
  • Can be used for test benches as well as for mobile driving tests
  • Both in decentralized distributed and central measurement networks

The CAN-Bus measurement module imc CANSASflex-HISO8-L allows safe and precise measurement of PT100/1000, respectively low voltages, as well as differential voltages up to 100V on high-voltage components with common mode voltage levels of up to 800 V. The CAN-Bus measurement module imc CANSASflex-HISO-HV4 allows a differential voltage measurement up to 800 V on four channels.

  • High-voltage isolation: channel/channel, channel/housing, channel/CAN and power supply

Connection box for high voltage (HV) modules

The HV connection box (HVBOX) serves as a flexible safety interface between the measuring point and the DAQ system. This allows sensors and test object instrumentation that were not originally designed to be HV-safe to be connected to the HVBOX and thus transformation to a fully HV-specified environment.

Features:

  • isolated screw terminals in polymer box
  • sensor cable entry via cable gland (PG)
  • serves as flexible and safe cabling interface to any arbitrary user cable
  • with 10 m special HV cable via LEMO.2P (Redel)
  • clear division between fully specified HV rated measurement module and connectors on one side – and custom and application specific cables and sensors on the other side

High voltage isolated 6-channel CAN-based measurement module for voltage, temperature (RTD) and resistance (NTC)

Within the imc CANSASfit (CANFT) module series, the HISO series offers particularly highly isolated types that are specially designed for use in high voltage environments. The model UT-6 allows the measurement of low voltages as well as temperature sensors on 6 channels, which are on a high common mode level or in environments with up to 1000 V voltage:

  • Voltage (25 mV to 100 V)
  • Temperature (PT100, PT1000)
  • Resistance (e.g. NTC)
  • MEMS accelerometers (5 V sensor supply)
