In the fast-paced world of test and measurement, the ability to turn even massive datasets into reliable insights is a competitive necessity. With the release of FAMOS 2026 +AI, imc Test & Measurement has introduced a powerful new ally for engineers: the FAMOS AI Assistant.
As companies integrate artificial intelligence into their workflows, questions regarding functionality, data security, and reliability are paramount. This post addresses those key concerns, drawing directly from our official terms of use and privacy frameworks.

The generative artificial intelligence is designed as an intelligent partner to help newcomers as well as experienced users. Key capabilities include:
By reducing the need to scan external forums for solutions or wait for that experienced colleague to be back from vacation, the AI Assistant allows engineers to get started with FAMOS much easier, helps if you use it only from time to time, as well as if you face a completely new task.
The AI Assistant is included in FAMOS Professional and FAMOS Enterprise licenses. There is no extra charge, nor any need to register with an email address or any other personal information.
For many organizations, the primary concern is where their data goes. The FAMOS AI Assistant is built with privacy you can trust.
1. Where is the data processed?
First of all, no measurement data is sent to the AI. The only information sent are the questions you ask, your sequence code in case you attach it, and your feedback, should you decide to provide some.
Regarding the information sent, the system leverages Microsoft Azure Services. To ensure compliance with the strict European standards, all services are hosted in North Europe and Sweden Central. This guarantees that data storage and processing remain within the EU Data Boundary and are fully GDPR-compliant.
2. Is your proprietary data used to train the AI?
No. This is a critical distinction for engineering firms protecting intellectual property. Data sent to the Azure OpenAI Service is not used to train, retrain, or improve the base models by Microsoft or OpenAI. Your prompts and results remain private within the specific Azure environment.
3. What personal data is collected?
None. You don’t need to enter any personal data at any point. If you decide to provide feedback to something, you can choose a nickname that will be collected for later evaluation. That evaluation however is also only carried out manually and not in any automated way. imc recommends using pseudonyms to further ensure no personal reference can be traced back to individual users.
4. Are the recent threads and queries stored?
You can store up to 20 threads (conversations) on the server, if you want to continue a topic at a later point. They are protected so that not even imc can look up what you have asked. You can decide to delete these threads at any time, which otherwise happens automatically after a few weeks.
The 100 most recent queries are stored locally, so that you can jump back to those at any time.
To maintain the integrity and security of the system, there are several important usage guidelines for companies to keep in mind:
The FAMOS AI Assistant represents a shift from the need to look up things manually and depending on colleagues, towards quickly accessing help at any time. Still, you keep full control of what is happening and don’t need to worry about confidentiality. By combining the analytical power of FAMOS with the simplicity of the AI, companies can achieve faster validation and clearer cause-effect analysis without sacrificing data security.
