In modern industrial society, noise all too often annoys us; many noises are unpleasant and undesirable. In order to limit the noise impact on people, there are limit values for the sound emission of machines and systems. A prerequisite for this is a measurement method that allows an objective comparison of the noise emission. This is the sound power measurement, which determines the sound emission of the machine independently of the ambient conditions. It takes into account the sound energy radiated in all directions as a function of time and is measured in watts. The lecture will present the basics of sound measurement and methods for efficient sound power measurement.

Under the requirement to provide timely solutions for the test and evaluation of e-vehicles, development and vehicle construction are faced with a variety of metrological challenges.
How can users measure the high voltages in batteries and on-board networks, the properties of the drive train, changed driving dynamics as well as vibration and noise development reliably and without interference?
In the lecture, imc will present measuring devices, sensors and measurement solutions to test the efficiency and safety of batteries and battery management systems, the powertrain and ancillary units, and to test components, such as brake systems, for their function and service life.
How do you achieve trouble-free data acquisition on rotating components of vehicles, machines or systems?

Trouble-free data acquisition is difficult on rotating components of vehicles, machines, trains or wind turbines, not least because of the often harsh environmental conditions. In our overview, we present various telemetry solutions that record torsion, temperature, force, vibration, strain and other signals and sensors in single-channel to multi-channel measurements and transmit them contact-free via standardised interfaces. Against the background of various test requirements, the focus is on flexibly adaptable and expandable telemetry systems with a compact and robust design and their integration into a measurement system architecture. Furthermore, we show innovative solutions for tests on road vehicles to record wheel speeds without stator, brake temperature and the mechanical performance.
