Telemetry bandwidth issues solved by imc – how to reconfigure data streams in-flight
Duration: 45 minutes
What to expect
Telemetry bandwidth constraints are more pronounced than ever due to the ever-expanding scope of flight test operations. The volume of measurement data accumulated and recorded during flight operations is on the rise: additional measurement points, faster sampling rates, higher signal dynamic range via 20 or 24-bit resolution, even ONVIF/RTSP network cameras. The growth of these technological advancements is outpacing conventional telemetry solutions.
Innovative possibilities emerge if just the essential data could be transmitted to the ground station. This would facilitate a seamless, swift, and secure reconfiguration of the system from the ground station for subsequent test points. Achieving this goal requires the establishment of a bi-directional telemetry link connecting the ground station with the aircraft
The collaborative efforts of JDA and imc have yielded a novel flight test solution fully aligned with IRIG 106 standards, incorporating the telemetry link based on Chapter 4 or 7.
