Plug & Measure functionality radically simplifies the work of configuring measurements

For too long, many manufacturers of measurement instruments have been trying to persuade the users that measurement is something complicated and that before performing one’s measurement tasks, it was necessary to be retrained to program with graphical programming languages.

Conversely, the profession of measurement technicians seems to be dying out as part of the development toward specialization in core competence. This is not surprising since all that is wanted is to “just take measurements”, and for that reason neither the sensor nor the instrument is the focus of interest.

A new technology called “Plug & Measure”, based on the TEDS standard (IEEE 1451 /1/), now makes fully automated adjustment of all of a device’s sensor and measurement parameters possible.
