What to expect
When measuring vehicle noise, a distinction is made between pass-by noise measurements and measurements inside the vehicle.
Pass-by noise measurement is an important aspect of sound testing and noise regulation in the automotive industry and is usually measured to evaluate the noise levels produced by vehicles under real-world conditions. Many countries and regions have regulations that specify the maximum permissible noise level for vehicles, especially when operating on public roads. High noise levels from vehicles can contribute to noise pollution in cities and residential areas and cause discomfort and health problems for residents.
Vehicle interior noise is primarily used to evaluate and improve the acoustic comfort and quality of the vehicle. Passenger comfort is an important feature for vehicle buyers looking for a vehicle with a pleasant interior noise. To this end, interior noise measurements are performed to identify and reduce noise sources.
In addition to the methods of pass-by measurement as well as the measurement of vehicle interior noise, the webinar will also present methods to evaluate individual components by means of a sound power measurement before they are installed in a production vehicle and to compare them against limit values.
