The New Data Analysis Software imc FAMOS 2023
The new version of the imc FAMOS 2023 data analysis software aims to improve usability with new wizards and functions that efficiently support test engineers, scientists and technicians in their work and offer sophisticated functions for data import, data analysis and visualization. imc FAMOS diagrams can now be integrated into Microsoft 365 (Office) files via OLE for creating professional presentations.
Orientation
Improved Quick View
The QuickView window has been improved and extended. It is optimized for quickly browsing large data amounts and offers now flexible configuration options, such as max. number of channels displayed, „reset to auto scale“ or “save/restore config“. Furthermore, the window is no longer floating and has been integrated as a dedicated tool into the output box.
Preview in Windows Explorer
Now, full support of imc FAMOS data files with the standard Windows Explorer Preview (as known with pdf for example): it can immediately display a preview of the measurement curve along with imc FAMOS-specific metadata, already within the Microsoft Windows environment - without even the need to open imc FAMOS.
Improved Function Assistant (Wizard)
Improved Function Assistant (Wizard)
The Function Assistant was completely reworked. It comes with a modern and well-structured design that is much more intuitive and easier to use. Intelligent functions such as auto-completion and drag & drop for variables reduce manual work to a minimum. Thoroughly revised help texts, provide additional guidance during configuration.
Data Import Converter
New Organizing Functions
imc FAMOS boasts with an impressive range of predefined data format importers. Conveniently filter them to easily find and display those which are relevant for the moment and hide those that are not.
Create Selective Filters
imc FAMOS now offers rule based channel selection in multi-channel formats such as used in automotive bus system applications: these may involve thousands of channels in one single file. Users can now create individual filter conditions with wildcards to automatically select subsets of channels to be loaded – e.g. all channels including the keyword “Analog_Cyl_”. Once created, this can be saved as a yet a new custom import converter, to be reused later.
Curve Window Configuration Assistant
A new curve configuration assistant provides intelligent support and preconfiguration based on the actual data type. Useful presets (such as waterfall or color map for spectra) will thus reduce user actions and configuration to a minimum.
At a glance:
Configuration assistant is integrated in curve window setup menu
Can also be launched upon drag & drop of channels onto panel page
Helps to set up the display based on the current channel types - especially useful for e.g.: stacked axis, xy, 3D, geo maps, heat maps, color controlling variables, etc.
Interfacing
Comprehensive MS Excel Support
The extended Excel Interface is not limited to straight data import but rather supports bidirectional data exchange in any imaginable way: across multiple files, with multiple sheets, selective ranges and individually addressable cells.
Full remote control in terms of:
Multiple files
Workbooks with multiple sheets (search by name or index, reading and writing, renaming)
Transfer of variables of type “text array”
Print range
Added support / help texts
Added expert functions like “Conditional formatting”
Embedding the Curve Window (OLE Support )
For professional presentations, imc FAMOS data curves can now be integrated into MS PowerPoint, Word or Excel not only as static graphics but rather as OLE objects that embed the entire data content: this allows for dynamic navigation, zooming and formatting by the presenter, from within PowerPoint etc.!
Curve Window now usable as OLE object (Object Linking and Embedding):
Embedding curve windows into MS office documents
Incorporating both data contents and curve configuration (ccv).
Allows interactive actions within PowerPoint, Word etc. (zoom, cursor, marker etc.)
Usable with any OLE compatible application (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, …)
Available with imc FAMOS Enterprise Edition
For target-System (executing PowerPoint): minimum FAMOS Runtime required
New Curve Window & Panel Features
Bubble Plot
The QuickView window has been improved and extended. It is optimized for quickly browsing large data amounts and offers now flexible configuration options, such as max. number of channels displayed, „reset to auto scale“ or “save/restore config“. Furthermore, the window is no longer floating and has been integrated as a dedicated tool into the output box.
Filling Areas Between Curves
Areas between arbitrary curves can now be filled with colors:
New Panel Features
The panel in imc FAMOS 2023 has some great improvements like:
New widget “tree view” for hierarchical display of elements (e.g. functions and sequences).
The Panel grid is now scaled in mm. Any imprecision due to a divided Panel or differing DPI settings for the monitor has been eliminated.
Widgets can now be set visible or invisible during runtime via the value of a control variable.
