Challenges of Measurement Hardware and Software for Wind Turbines
Tuesday, 09.05.2023, 04:00 pm, FORUM Hall 1
Speaker: Peter Schreiweis
For many years, imc has accompanied the leading companies in the wind energy industry with efficient measurement tools and turnkey solutions. Wind turbines are high installations that protrude completely unprotected above the rest of the environment. The measurement technology inside them must be robust against cold, frost, condensation and frequent lightning strikes.
- How does imc protect the measurement technology from these situations, especially during long-term measurements?
- Which measurement questions come up and how are they answered in accordance with the standards?
- How much energy does the wind turbine deliver at which wind speed?
- Which mechanical loads act on the turbine and influence the operational stability?
- How are the generated noises measured and evaluated? (An important factor of acceptance)
- What is the grid quality of wind energy? (It connects to the existing electrical grid.)

Measure Solutions for E-vehicles: from the Battery to the Power Transmission on the Road
Wednesday, 10.05.2023, 11:00 am, FORUM Hall 1
Speaker: Rolf Spellmeyer
Powertrain electrification leads to new challenges in the field of measurement technology. All components of the powertrain and their interaction must be tested. These include the primary energy storage ("battery"), the power electronics, the electric motors, and the entire control and regulation of the drive and energy supply. Due to the high-voltage components in all-electric vehicles, there are high demands on measurement technology. Furthermore, the power measurement during charging and discharging of the batteries as well as the torque deployment at the wheels are also included in the energy balance and efficiency of electric vehicles.
Using practical examples, the presentation will show concrete solutions for the challenging measurement tasks on the powertrain - from the charging station to the asphalt.

Measurement systems with maximum flexibility: ensuring future viability and keeping all options open
Thursday, 11.05.2023, 11:30 a.m., FORUM Hall 1
Speaker: Martin Riedel
Data Acquisition systems that can survive in the current, dynamic, and fast-moving development processes on a long-term and sustainable basis are confronted with a variety of demands and wishes from their users, which can sometimes be contradictory. In order to be prepared for future requirements and application scenarios, the user wants ultimate flexibility in the best case: Fast DAQ channels and high system data rates should be achievable, but it should also be possible to integrate measurement amplifiers for multi-channel, slow variables such as temperatures in an economically sensible way. Not only analog sensors and signals are relevant, but also digital field buses and communication standards such as CAN. And buses that we do not even know today should be flexibly retrofittable in the future. Depending on the application, installation effort, and place of use, centralized or decentralized distributable concepts can be preferred. Furthermore, in the current era of e-mobility, not only low-voltage but also high-voltage components are involved. How can all this be addressed with a single measuring system that does not overburden the user in terms of operation and handling?
New ModBus Fieldbus Interface for imc DAQ Platform

The imc CRONOS data acquisition system platform – especially the DAQ systems imc CRONOSflex, imc CRONOScompact, imc SPARTAN and imc Busdaq - can now be equipped with a new interface for the Modbus Fieldbus. This interface seamlessly integrates any external sensor, device, or data source with a Modbus link. Test engineers who already rely on a comprehensive testing solution based on the imc CRONOS DAQ system platform and the imc STUDIO test and measurement software benefit from this when additional devices are needed. Typical use cases are monitoring and testing applications that need to involve the operation of power meters, weather stations, special sensors (e.g., pyrometers), or even climate chambers that communicate temperature or humidity data via Modbus.
Please visit our Fieldbus connectivity website for further information on the connectivity of the imc DAQ systems.
imc Test & Measurement New Highly Insulated Measurement Module Captures Up to 1500V

The new imc CANSASfit HISO-HV-4 measurement module fills a void in the ever-increasing demands in the e-vehicle and battery testing markets. The new CAN measurement module can be used to perform measurements in high-voltage environments with up to 1500V and extends the range of testing possibilities for test engineers and research and development (R&D) professionals.
